Paraty is an amazing colonial city, a true historical site, that until the present days preserves its several natural resources and architecture. Walking around Paratys downtown is a real time experience to Brazil in it’s colonial era. Walking is a slow and delightful experience, due to the “pés-de-moleque” stones that cover its streets. The buildings and churches translate the style of an historical time, and the mysterious masonry symbols that still can be found in its walls invite us to feel what living in ancient Brazil was like.
Paraty is a national and international destination famous for it´s cultural richness, given the excellent preservation conditions of its colonial arquitecture, the intense cultural agenda and also for its amazing natural resources. Paraty is embraced by “Mata Atlântica”, a typical fauna from that region, that is now considered an area of preservation for it´s beauty and environmental importance, and is also famous for Paratys Bay, that is a complex of more than 300 beaches and 65 paradisiacal islands. Because of it’s unique beauty Paraty has also been chosen as a location for several movies and TV series.
Paraty has an active Gastronomic movement as well as an interesting nightlife, with more than 60 restaurants, cafes and bars, some of them internationally acclaimed.
The city also offers a great variety of entertainment: Pleasure boats, Fishing boats, Waterfalls, Islands and beaches, Trails across the Mata Atlântica, “Path of the Gold”, the famous Puppet Theatre, Scuba Diving, Sugarcane Rum Mills, Horse riding, Adventure sports, Bicycle riding, among others.
Paraty is now more beautiful than ever, after transferring its street lights to a subterranean gallery, and is one step closer to becoming a Humanity Intangible Heritage!!!
